Online retailer Amazon is reportedly considering launching a print catalog following the demise of Toys R Us, and The Toy Association would very much like the catalog in its stocking this holiday season, according to USA Today.
Toys R Us declared bankruptcy earlier this year but the retailer still accounted for a huge chunk of toy sales in the U.S. The Toy Association has spent the past several months helping member companies adapt to a world without one of the major sellers of their products.
One of the more popular traditions of Toys R Us was a print catalog mailed to customers near the Christmas season. Now Amazon is reportedly working on a catalog of its own, although the company has declined to share details.
Steve Pasierb, CEO of The Toy Association, told USA Today that many of his group's member companies have been in talks with Amazon about the catalog.
"Toys R Us was about 14 percent of the U.S. toy market," Pasierb told the newspaper. "It's not that consumers no longer support that category, it's just a question of where they're going to put their dollars."
Retailers Walmart and Target also publish holiday toy catalogs. Currently, Walmart is the top seller of toys in the U.S. https://usat.ly/2tYfdaI
